About Matthew
Matthew joined CSB Group in 2024 as a Client Accounting Team Leader and was subsequently appointed VAT Coordinator in 2025, where he supports both local and international clients in achieving and maintaining VAT compliance across Malta and the wider European Union.
In his role, Matthew manages VAT registrations, prepares and reviews VAT returns, and advises on the correct VAT treatment based on clients’ operational and commercial activities. He works closely with both clients and internal teams to address VAT-related queries, assess regulatory risks, and identify opportunities for advisory support and operational efficiencies.
As part of CSB Group’s integrated corporate and maritime service offering, Matthew also supports clients operating within the yachting and shipping sectors, including matters related to VAT implications connected to yacht ownership structures and yacht registration services in Malta.
Alongside his advisory responsibilities, Matthew is actively involved in internal process improvement, business development initiatives, VAT training, and the publication of technical updates and insights relating to regulatory and legislative developments.
Matthew attained his ACCA qualification in 2021 and has been a member of both ACCA and the Malta Institute of Accountants since 2022. He also holds the CPA warrant issued by the Malta Accountancy Board and is currently furthering his studies through a Master of Science in Finance with the University of Aberdeen.
Prior to joining CSB Group, Matthew gained several years of experience across accounting, finance, and outsourcing services. He worked within both sole practitioner and mid-tier firm environments before joining a consultancy firm specialising in gaming and service-based industries, where he held supervisory and assistant management roles within the business outsourcing division.
