About Edward
Dr Edward Meli is Senior Associate and Manager – Legal & Maritime at CSB Group, where he leads the Corporate and Commercial Law department together with the Yachting and Shipping team, supporting both corporate clients and maritime stakeholders across a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.
Since joining CSB Group in 2020, Edward has played a key role in advising clients on corporate structuring, company incorporations, restructurings, and insolvency matters, ensuring operations are conducted in full compliance with Maltese law. Within the Yachting and Shipping team, he is actively involved in yacht and ship registrations, yacht importation and leasing, sale and purchase transactions, and a range of ancillary maritime legal matters. His role also extends to supporting clients across gaming law and merger and acquisition transactions, reflecting the breadth of CSB Group’s multidisciplinary advisory services.
Through his work, Edward contributes directly to the Group’s integrated offering within the maritime sector, including yacht ownership structuring and yacht registration services in Malta, delivered as part of CSB Group’s broader legal and corporate framework.
Edward holds a Master of Advocacy Degree from the University of Malta, following his Bachelor of Laws (Hons.), and later completed an LL.M in International Business Law at King’s College London. His postgraduate studies focused on corporate and commercial law, shipping law, international trade, corporate governance, and maritime legal frameworks, with a particular academic focus on bunkering and maritime trade law.
He began his legal career in 2016 as a trainee within a corporate and maritime law firm, where he developed a strong foundation in commercial and shipping law. Since then, he has built extensive experience advising clients on both corporate and maritime legal matters, combining technical legal expertise with practical industry insight.
Edward is admitted to the Maltese Bar and the Superior Courts of Malta and is a member of the Malta Maritime Law Association.
